One Florida county is suing 14 pharmaceutical companies over the opioid crisis.
Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandra Murman says the lawsuit alleges that the manufacturers misrepresented the risks of opioids.
They're also accused of marketing opioids for long-term chronic pain when, as the county claims, there is no valid scientific study to support the use of the drugs for that purpose.
Murman says Hillsborough County leads Florida in the number of babies who are born addicted to opioids.
