Miami-Dade Gears Up For Next School Year

It's time for Miami-Dade's new teachers to hit the books.

Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho welcomes 300 new instructors to the district on Thursday morning as they began their four-day orientation program.

The orientation aims to get new teachers ready for the first day of classes on August 20th.

Also ready for Day Once are the district's new police officers.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, five new officers and four retirees were sworn-in to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.

If you have questions about the new year, Superintendent Carvalho is hosting a Live Back-to-School Twitter Chat at 3 PM Thursday. Tweet questions to @MiamiSup using #AskMiamiSup.
