Ahead of the start of the school year, the city of Parkland has named a new police captain.
The Broward County town is also tapping a sergeant whose sole job will be to oversee the School Resource Officers at its five public schools.
The city has a contract with the Broward Sheriff's Office to provide 42 personnel and will be analyzing the deal to determine if it needs to be further modified.
