Florida Rapper Arrested, Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run

A Florida rapper is one of two drivers accused in a fatal hit-and-run.

Corey Wesley Jones, of Lakeland, Florida, was arrested Thursday.

According to WFLA-TV in Tampa, he is also known as DB da Kid.

Polk County deputies say Jones' SUV hit Kelli Marie Black, of Polk City, while she rode a scooter northbound on North Galloway Road near Kathleen Road early Thursday morning.

After the impact, investigators say Jones kept driving.

Minutes later, deputies say a white or light colored Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 98 hit Black and a good Samaritan who stopped to help, then drove away.

Black died at the scene.

The good Samaritan who was hit has a serious leg injury, but is expected to recover.

Deputies are searching for the second driver. Jones is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and reckless driving with serious bodily injury.
