Publix Announces Sales Up 4 Percent Year-Over-Year

The supermarket chain that bills itself as the place "where shopping is a pleasure" is likely pleased with its latest financial numbers.

Publix Supermarkets is reporting that sales for April, May, and June totaled nearly nine-billion dollars, up four-percent from the second quarter a year ago.

And the chain says profits were up by more than $600-million, an increase of almost 25 percent.

President and CEO Todd Jones credits Publix employees for continuing to make the company a leader in customer service.
