A Florida Keys resort is gearing up to open for the first time since being wiped out by Hurricane Irma.
Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key has undergone a $50 million renovation in the last year. They will reopen for the first time during Labor Day Weekend.
In the aftermath of the storm, the resort laid off its entire staff of about 260.
Hawks Cay plans to reopen Aug. 30. The main hotel has 177 rooms and six restaurants.
Resort officials say the establishment currently employs 200 people and hopes to have 350 employees during the high season.
Hawks Cay is located between Marathon and Key West. It was one of about 10 signature tourist resorts damaged by Irma.
