Broward School District Suspends Investigation Into MSD Shooting

The Broward County school district is suspending an internal investigation into the Parkland school massacre, citing conflicts with a state inquiry.

Broward County Public Schools said Wednesday that it has stopped its recently announced internal investigation into the Valentine's Day shooting massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

"We recognize that the MSD staff is continuing to recover from this tragedy. To avoid asking them to participate in duplicate interviews and to streamline the process, the District has decided to suspend its internal review, and give priority to the MSD Commission's investigation," the district said in a statement.

The district announced last week that it had hired a retired Secret Service agent to do an internal investigation about MSD staff performance before and during the shooting.

The district says the state commission has promised to share its findings with the district.
