Choosing to get a divorce is no small decision, and researchers from the U.K. have looked into how the reasoning behind the decision to un-tie the knot has changed over the years.
Oxford University researchers examined statistical data on how current divorce legislation has been used in practice since the Divorce Reform Act of 1969 was implemented in the U.K. in 1971.
The data shows after 1971, the facts used most frequently to get a divorce were 'fault' based -- that includes 'unreasonable behavior' for wives, and adultery for husbands.
