Miami Officials Look To Change Gambling Zoning Laws

City of Miami officials are hoping to change zoning laws regarding gambling.

The city commission voted unanimously on Thursday night to change the city's zoning code.

"The Miami Herald" reports any new gaming establishments in the city will need four "yes" votes from the five-member commission, instead of the usual three, and commissioners will consider a new ordinance with the changes later this year.

The owners of Magic City Casino, which wants to open a poker room and jai alai in Edgewater, oppose the move and have threatened to sue.
