Unemployment Lines Are Getting Longer Throughout The U.S.

Unemployment lines are getting longer.

Thursday morning's report from the Labor Department shows 217,000 Americans filed initial claims for benefits last week.

That's 9,000 more than the previous week's. Last week's numbers were also revised today.

Analysts were expecting to see around 219,000 people filing initial claims.

The biggest increases in claims were in California, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Minnesota.

The sharpest fall-offs were in New York, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Kentucky.
