North Miami Beach Officer Charged With Felony Battery Of Pregnant Woman

A North Miami Beach Police officer has been arrested after authorities say she allegedly kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach.

Officer Ambar Pacheco, 26, was arrested Wednesday. She now faces a felony charge of aggravated battery of a pregnant victim.

According to an arrest affidavit, a female victim told authorities that Pacheco struck her in the stomach area.

Pacheco told responding deputies that the victim's boyfriend had first kicked her sister in the face. She then stated, "I saw red and beat the s**t out of [the female victim]," according to the affidavit.

Authorities say the victim was visibly eight-months pregnant. The victim appeared to be in severe pain after the alleged attack, according to authorities.

The victim was transported by Miami Beach Fire Rescue to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she reportedly gave birth shortly after arrival.

According to authorities, the victim's actual due date was around Aug. 4. Deputies say the baby that was delivered was healthy.

Pacheco later told authorities that "she doesn't know who, but she kicked somebody."

It's not clear how long Pacheco has been an officer in North Miami Beach.

Her arrest is the latest in a run of corruption and mismanagement in North Miami Beach.

Just yesterday, prosecutors charged NMB Commissioner Frantz Pierre with taking thousands in bribes from a local strip club owner in exchange for voting for his extended-hours liquor license.
