Just one week after appearing in the Major League Baseball All Star Game, there's another honor for Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto.
The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association has named Realmuto the Miami Marlin's "Heart and Hustle Award" winner, citing his passion, desire and work ethic both on and off the field.
Fans, all alumni and active players will eventually select an overall league winner from the 30 team winners.
Created by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in 2005, the Heart & Hustle Award is presented annually to an active player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game.
Realmuto was nominated as the Marlin's winner in 2017, but the Yankees' Bret Gardner was awarded the overall title last year.
