FDA Approves New Drug To Treat Malaria

The Food and Drug Administration is green-lighting a new drug to treat recurring cases of malaria.

Officials with the FDA say the drug treats a type of the mosquito-borne disease that can remain dormant in the liver for years before it reawakens and makes people sick over and over.

Recurring malaria makes about eight and-a-half million people sick every year.

It's a particular threat to children.
