FEMA Housing Program For Puerto Ricans Extended

The deadline for a housing aid program for Puerto Rican evacuees has been once again been extended.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Hillman ruled Thursday in Massachusetts that the federal hotel voucher should be extended for two more weeks, until at least August 6.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) decided to end the program after eight months.  An advocacy organization called LatinoJustice and four Puerto Rican families are suing FEMA.

Two of the families live in Central Florida.

The program has been helping Hurricane Maria victims with housing since October.
