Deadly Hit-And-Run In Hallandale, Person Of Interest At Large

Hallandale Beach Police are on the hunt for a suspect who they say is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash that took place over the weekend.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. Saturday at Atlantic Shores Boulevard and Northeast 12th Avenue.

Authorities believe the incident may have started with an encounter between the male driver of a white van and the female driver of a Mazda SUV.

The van collided with a white Toyota Corolla with two people inside, police said. It then struck a male pedestrian walking nearby. The people inside the car weren't hurt, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at Aventura Hospital.

The driver of the van was listed in critical condition at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

Police have not been able to locate the black Mazda involved in the original confrontation.

Police are searching for that driver, calling her a person of interest.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to notify the Hallandale Beach Police Department.
