Lauderhill ATM Crook Makes Off With $10,000, Police Say

Police in Lauderhill are on the hunt for a man seen draining another person’s bank account on ATM surveillance footage.

Surveillance video showed a bearded man wearing a dark colored hat and sunglasses, smoking a cigarette while cashing out.

According to officials, the crook was able to withdraw thousands of dollars from an ATM at a credit union on State Road 7.

Police say the man was able to answer security questions, increase credit and ATM withdrawal limits, all without the victim’s consent.

The victim said he still doesn’t know how this crook was able to convince the bank to fulfill his requests.

In total, the crook made off with $10,000 across Broward County.

Police will be using the clear surveillance video to help identify and locate the man.

Authorities are reminding the public to secure their mail and to destroy confidential mail after it is done being used.
