Man Attacks Minion On Florida Boardwalk

Authorities say that a man has been charged after attacking a person dressed as a minion (a cartoon character made famous in the "Despicable Me" series) along a popular Florida boardwalk.

Police say Jamie Roehm was costumed as a yellow minion and working on Daytona Beach's boardwalk Sunday evening when a man started messing with him. A police report says the man slammed Roehm onto the pavement and kicked him when he tried to get back up.

Police said witnesses cheered 25-year-old Ryan Nihart on during the alleged attack.

The store owner of nearby Jungle George's and others helped detain Nihart until police arrived. He now faces charges of battery and criminal mischief.

Roehm declined medical treatment, saying he was mostly bruised, according to authorities.

The store owner told police the $300 minion suit was destroyed.
