FPL Worker Electrocuted... But Was It By Lightning Or A Power Pole?

Officials with Florida Power & Light are trying to determine whether a subcontractor was electrocuted Monday from a power pole or a lightning strike.

Broward County Sheriff's Office Department of Fire Rescue said the 27-year-old FPL subcontractor, working with the company through PIKE, was transported to Hollywood's Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was kept overnight for observation.

The incident happened in the area of Stirling Road and N. Lake Boulevard in Cooper City.

The patient suffered no major injuries and was talking to paramedics throughout the entire transport, FPL said in a statement.

Another worker on the scene said he was burned by debris at the time of the incident, the agency said.
