A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office worker is facing charges, accused of beating a pregnant woman.
According to Action News Jax, Catherine Thompson is charged with battery.
Investigators say the officer punched Kirenda Welch multiple times while Welch was restrained in the intake area of the jail last week.
Welch had been arrested for driving with a suspended license.
She claims Thompson hit her at least 20 times and pepper sprayed her after the pair exchanged disparaging comments.
Welch is five weeks pregnant.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Thompson has been fired.
