2018 Proving To Be Deadly For Lightening Strikes In Florida

In the Sunshine State, 2018 is quickly becoming one of the deadliest years when it comes to lightning strikes.

So far this year, five people have been killed by lightning throughout Florida. That number matches the annual total average.

On Wednesday, a boater in Umatilla was the latest to be killed by a lightning strike in the Sunshine State.

Two people in South Florida have died by lightning in 2018. Marco Pascual was killed at C.W. Hendrix Farm in May. Rico Eltine was killed in June in Margate.

The summer months of June, July and August are considered the deadliest for Florida lightning strikes as more people are outdoors.
