Former President Barack Obama spoke publicly for the first time in months on Thursday evening at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in California.
Obama told Democrats at a Los Angeles fundraiser last night that they have a right to be concerned about the state of America.
“Do not wait for the perfect message, don’t wait to feel a tingle in your spine because you’re expecting politicians to be so inspiring and poetic and moving that somehow, ‘OK, I’ll get off my couch after all and go spend the 15-20 minutes it takes for me to vote,’” he said. “Because that’s part of what happened in the last election. I heard that too much.”
He didn't mention Presidnt Donald Trump by name, but suggested that Republicans were using fear tactics, and said fear is powerful.
Obama also spoke about why he thinks Democrats would be foolish to believe that they’re in good shape to beat [Trump] just because they’ve been doing well in winning recent elections.
Guests at the event, where only a few reporters and no cameras were allowed, paid $100 thousand each to take a picture with the former President.
