Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Visits "Tender Age" Immigrant Shelter

Members of Congress from both sides of aisle agree children kept at the Cutler Bay facility are doing well.

"The children were smiling and happy we were able to ask them questions and they all expressed that they were happy and at peace," said Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz rejected the idea that Democrats are digging in their heels just for a political fight.

"I would rather lose an election and reunite children with their parents," said Rep. Wasserman-Schultz.

The Trump Administration says it's taking steps to reunite these separated families.

WATCH:  Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's reaction as WIOD's Rory O-Neill asks the Congresswoman if fellow Democrats may not be open to negotiating immigration because they want to keep the issue alive.  (HINT: It's 20 minutes into the press conference)
