Family Heirloom Found On Big Pine Key Street After Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma washed up a piece of history, and now Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies are searching for the family who lost their heirloom.

The historical binder with the names of Fred Schaeffer Boyer Sr. and Lillian Mae Fernandes includes photos, marriage and birth certificates and news articles dating back to the 1850s.

It was found on a Big Pine Key street corner where the Seahorse RV Park was prior to the storm.

Lower Keys Deputy Seth Hopp says, "I’m sure there is someone, somewhere, missing it dearly as it looks irreplaceable.

"If you know who this book may belong to, call Deputy Hopp at the Cudjoe Key substation at 305-745-3761.
