FL Man Sneaked Into Keys Hotel, Stripped Naked, & Stole Car, Police Say

A South Florida man is accused of stripping naked and stealing a classic car in the Florida Keys.

Monroe County Sheriff's officers say 21-year-old Nicolas Duran got a ride from Florida City to Marathon, sneaked into a nearby hotel, and took off all his clothes.

According to deputies, Duran allegedly wrapped himself in a towel and then stole a 1963 Oldsmobile from the Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club.

Deputies were looking for the car because it was last seen leaving the Hyatt Place hotel and witnesses said the driver was not wearing any clothes.

When deputies walked up to Duran and asked him what he was doing, he responded that he was just listening to music.

Deputies asked him to get out of the car, and when he did, they noticed he was only wearing a towel. A check on the vehicle came back that it was stolen from Faro Blanco.

Duran's dad said his son was supposed to be at a Florida City counseling center for a different grand theft charge.

He now faces charges of grand theft auto, operating a vehicle on a suspended license, giving police a false identification and probation violation.
