Broward Sheriff's Deputy Accused Of Stealing Action Figures From Walmart

A Broward County sheriff's deputy is facing charges after allegedly stealing action figures and other items from Walmart while in uniform.

BSO officials arrested Deputy Henry Guzman, 44, on Monday.

The 13-year veteran will be suspended without pay pending an investigation by the state attorney's office.

Authorities investigated after receiving a tip. They say Guzman stole from a Lauderdale Lakes Walmart location on three separate dates while wearing his uniform. He allegedly stole DVDs and action figures worth $200.

Sheriff Scott Israel condemned Guzman's actions in a statement.

"Absolutely no one is above the law. His actions are disgraceful, and in no way are a reflection of the good, hardworking men and women of the Broward Sheriff's Office," Israel's statement read. "I commend the work of the Public Corruption Unit for its commitment to hold deputies accountable for any criminal activity."

Guzman was recognized in 2015 for saving the life of a 1-year-old child who was choking and unresponsive.
