Police-Involved Shooting At Trump National Doral Golf Club

A man is in custody after exchanging gunfire with authorities inside the lobby of the Trump National Doral Golf Club and Resort.

According to officials, police rushed to the scene at around 1:30 a.m., Friday, following a call of shots fired.

A man, identified as 42-year-old Doral resident Jonathan Oddi, walked in to the resort and started yelling "anti-Trump sentiments" while draping an American flag over the front desk in the lobby, according to authorities.

Doral Police and Miami-Dade Police responded and were immediately able to neutralize the suspect.

“Our officers responded with the assistance of Miami-Dade [Police Department],” said Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez. “They confronted the subject immediately upon arrival and exchanged fire with him.”

According to authorities, Oddi pulled the fire alarm in the lobby of the resort and was firing a handgun at chandeliers and the roof of the lobby.

Once authorities were inside the lobby, a shoot-out broke out between police and the suspect. Oddi was shot several times in the legs.

"The guy was ready for war, he was waiting for our officers to come in," Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez told WIOD.

Oddi was taken into custody and transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he is listed as stable.

A Doral Police officer was also injured while responding to the shooting, but officials said it was not firearm related.

There is no further threat at the resort. No one was evacuated during the incident.

The FDLE has taken over the police-involved shooting investigation. Homeland Security and the FBI are expected to continue investigating the motive behind the shooting.
