A new study says marijuana is now more popular than cigarettes or alcohol among young people.

That stat is according to a new study by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

The group looked at more than a quarter of a million young people, finding in 2014 that more than 8 percent of them had tried pot, compared to 4.8 percent in 2004.

Initial cigarette use also dropped from 21 percent in 2004 to just nine percent in 2014.
