87-Year-Old Florida Man Will Graduate High School Today In Polk County

More than 70 years since he first enrolled as a freshman, a student in Polk County will finally graduate on Friday.

Frostproof High School's Class of 2018 will get their diplomas tonight, including 87-year-old Arthur Cotton. He left school after his sophomore year in 1948 to become a Marine.

Five years later, he was sent to the Korean War where he escorted bombers into enemy territory.

After a 40 year career in the military, Cotton retired and returned to Frostproof where he bought a house on Lake Clinch.

He tells "The Ledge" he decided to finish getting his diploma last year.  He says he always stressed education to his kids, and that he wanted to have the honor of having a high school diploma.
