1 Dead, 2 Injured As Severe Lightning Storms Sweep Through Broward

Authorities have confirmed that a woman died and two other people were injured Wednesday afternoon after they were struck by lightning at C.W. Hendrix Farms in Parkland, authorities said.

The lightning strike was reported shortly after 2 p.m. at the farm at 12210 Loxahatchee Road.

Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department officials said a man was taken to Broward Health North. His injuries were described as serious. A woman later admitted herself to JFK Medical Center in Atlantis with non-life-threatening injuries.

A third victim, 53-year-old Maria Pascual of Lake Worth, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Authorities are reminding the public as to why it's important to stay indoors during severe lighting storms.
