Broward Sheriff Want To See More Funds From County Commission

Broward's top cop wants more money from the County Commission next year.

During Tuesday's first BSO budget hearing, Sheriff Scott Israel asked for more than $926-million in the new fiscal year.

That's nearly 5 more than officers asked for last year.

The additional money would help pay for 31 new "risk protection order" staff and one new school resource officer, according to the sheriff.

The RPOs allow police to seize weapons from people believed to be a danger to themselves or others.
