Private Investigator Seeks Protection Order Against George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman is scheduled for a court appearance in two weeks.

He's accused of harassing a private investigator working on a documentary related to the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin -- calling him 55 times and sending him 67 text messages, 36 voicemails and 27 emails between Dec. 16, 2017, and Christmas Day.

In the meantime, the victim is now asking for the court to issue a protective order.

Private investigator Dennis Warren told Seminole County deputies he contacted Zimmerman once in September to pass along contact information for Michael Gasparro, an executive producer working with the rapper Jay Z on a documentary series about the life of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager Zimmerman shot and killed in 2012. A jury later acquitted Zimmerman of a second-degree murder charge in the case.

In December, Gasparro told Warren he was getting text messages from Zimmerman, some threatening.

Zimmerman then began to contact Warren as well, the private investigator told deputies. He kept calling, texting, and emailing Warren until Christmas Day, deputies said.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office says Zimmerman also threatened to feed Warren to an alligator.

No word yet on when the judge will rule on the request. Zimmerman is due in court on May 30.
