It's National Stroke Awareness Month, and throughout the month of May, we are bringing attention to the medical emergency.
University of Miami's Dr. Ralph Sacco says it's important to reduce your risk for stroke and know the symptoms.
Remember the term FAST when it comes to identifying and detecting a stroke:
F is for face, if the face is drooping on one side
A is for arm, if the arm is weak on one side (or the leg)
S is for speech, if you're having trouble speaking
T is for time
Dr. Sacco says if you have these symptoms you should call 911 in order to get help quickly and increase your chances of recovery.
