Jazz Greats To Join MSD Jazz Band For Benefit Concert

Three jazz greats are teaming up with the jazz band at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for a benefit concert. 

The show is scheduled for May 22nd at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts and features Herbie Hancock, Paquito D'Rivera and Wycliffe Gordon. 

Proceeds from the benefit concert will go to the Alex Schacter Scholarship Foundation, as well as the MSD and Coral Springs Middle School band programs. Alex played the trombone for MSDHS. 

He was one of the 17 individuals killed in the Valentine's Day shooting at Stoneman Douglas.

Tickets for the concert, called What We Play Is Life, cost $20, $30 and $40. 

A pre-concert reception with appetizers and desserts, sponsored by the Cheesecake Factory, costs $20.
