Commission To Investigate Government Response To MSD Shooting

A commission group on Tuesday held its first of many meetings regarding the Parkland high school shooting that took place on Valentine's Day. 

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission is tasked with investigating government actions and response surrounding the MSD massacre (along with the state's other mass shootings)

Group members include: 

  • Law enforcement administrators
  • Education officials
  • A state senator
  • A mental health counselor 
  • The father of victim Alex Schacter
  • The father of victim Meadow Pollack 
  • The father of victim Aliana Petty

They were appointed by Gov. Rick Scott, House Speaker Richard Corcoran, and Senate President Joe Negron. 

The commission's final report is due Jan. 1.
