Amazon Is Now Delivering... To The Trunk Of Your Car

Amazon's latest project includes delivering packages... to the trunk of your car.

The Seattle company said Tuesday that it has begun offering "Amazon Key"  -- a service that delivers packages in 37 cities to Prime members who own newer General Motors or Volvo vehicles.

Deliveries are available to members with 2015 year or newer:

  • Chevrolet with GM's OnStar connected-car service
  • Buick with GM's OnStar connected-car service
  • GMC with GM's OnStar connected-car service
  • Cadillac with GM's OnStar connected-car service
  • Volvo vehicle with an active Volvo On Call account

Packages will be placed in the trunks of cars parked in publicly accessible areas like a customer's home or workplace, and then secured.

To take advantage of the car service, Amazon Prime customers will need to download the Amazon Key app.

From there, they can link their connected car and start their Amazon orders. No additional hardware or devices are needed.

Before officially launching, Amazon gave a select number of customers across the country early access to Amazon Key In-Car. One of these customers was in Miami

Of their experience, the customer says: “We all lead busy lives and can’t always be at home when a delivery is expected. Amazon Key in-car delivery is just another way that Amazon helps ensure that your order is delivered safely and conveniently.” -Scott L. from Miami, one of the Amazon Prime members who received early access to the service”
