Broward Teachers Are Signing A Petition To Support Puerto Rican Schools

The Broward Teachers Union is asking its members to sign a petition that shows support for Puerto Rico's public schools.

The government has announced that, by September, it plans to close nearly 300 of the schools. Of those, 245 would be elementary schools.

That's on top of the 167 that closed less than a year ago.

New legislation would offer a voucher program and let 80 charter schools open.
