Police Shoot, Kill Wanted Man During Fort Lauderdale Traffic Stop

Police in Fort Lauderdale shot and killed a wanted man Wednesday during a traffic stop.

According to authorities, the U.S. Marshals Service was tracking the man, wanted on murder charges, when Fort Lauderdale officers pulled him over in a traffic stop just after 6 p.m. in the 900 block of West Sunrise Boulevard.

The man refused to leave his SVU, and officers attempted to subdue him, but the man fired a gun at the officers. 

Authorities said officers then returned fired and killed the man.

The shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The victim and the officers involved in the shooting have not been identified by police.
