FPL Is Gearing Up For Hurricane Season Throughout South Florida

We are now, officially less than two months from the beginning of another Hurricane Season. To prepare ahead of time, Florida Power and Light is gearing up in our area.

They just opened their new Boynton Beach Service Center, which was built to withstand category 5 hurricane winds.

FPL says it will use the facility along Military Trail, just north of Boynton Beach Boulevard, to provide a secure place for dozens of staff members and contractors to ride out a storm, before heading out to turn the power back on.

Restoration equipment will also be kept at this service center and the other 12 throughout the state.

The company has also been working on strengthening power poles and lines throughout Palm Beach County.
