Police authorities in St. Petersburg are searching for a man who they say has been impersonating an officer.
Investigators say the "fake cop" has been spotted in a police uniform, carrying a badge, and driving a white sedan. The suspect allegedly pulled over a woman for a phony traffic stop last week.
He told the victim to step out of the car, where he patted her down and touched her inappropriately.
The suspect took the victim's driver license and then drove off, officials say.
The man is described as muscular, with dark skin and over six feet tall.
Police officers say if you feel unsure about the identity of an officer, to call 9-1-1, give them your location and the operator can verify whether or not it is a legitimate traffic stop.
