About six million counterfeit cigarettes have been seized during an inspection of a Miami warehouse, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.
Authorities said the counterfeit cigarettes were worth more than $1 million.
A Wednesday news released stated that CBP officers working with ICE agents examined the 600 boxes and found multiple trade name protection and trafficking counterfeit goods violations.
Counterfeit cigarettes generate significant profits for criminal organizations and pose a public health risk, officials said.
"This seizure is the latest example of the extraordinary vigilance of CBP personnel with federal partners in Florida thwarting illegal trafficking of counterfeit cigarettes," CBP's Dina M. Amato said in a statement.
