Survey Says: Fake News Really Does Travel Fast

Maybe President Donald Trump knows a thing or two when he talks about "fake news."

According to a new study, fake news travels a lot faster and a lot further on Twitter than factual information does.

Researchers at M.I.T. found it took six times longer for accurate news to reach 1,500 people than stories that were false.

Researchers examined thousands of stories circulated on Twitter and millions of tweets between 2006 and 2017.

They say the study shows false political stories were more viral than any other category of false information.
