Home Depot Donating To Train Construction Workers, Support Housing Demand

Home Depot is donating $50-million to train 20,000 people to become construction workers over the next 10 years.

The idea behind the new training is to help roll back a shortage of people in the business. The shortage has contributed to rising home prices.

For instance, there's a projected demand this year for 1.3 million homes ...but it's estimated that only around 900,000 will be built.

The industry took a hit during the recession and workforce recovery has been slow.

Home Depot benefits because its sales go down when there aren't enough projects in the works.
