The Miami Beach Police Department is working on a plan to place cameras on every street corner in South Beach, from Washington Avenue and east on to the ocean. The cameras would be a measure in the effort to reduce crime.
License plate readers are also part of the proposal.
Miami Beach's police chief says the cameras would only be used for crime-related purposes.
The city already has three dozen police cameras in various locations.
The project could cost up to $8 million and would be implemented over the course of five years.
