A (former) Florida middle school teacher is behind bars after police say she allegedly had sex with one of her students.
Volusia County Sheriff's deputies took 26-year-old Stephanie Peterson Ferri into custody Wednesday, charging her with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child under 18 years of age.
The now-former science teacher from New Smyrna Beach allegely had a relationship with the 14-year-old male eighth grade student dating back to November. The student told investigators Ferri would send nude photos to him, later coming over to his house and picking him up for several hours.
The victim, who later told his parents about the relationship, said Ferri also brought him marijuana and told him not to say anything to anyone.
Ferri resigned from her job earlier in the week.
She’s being held on $25,000 bond.
