A new Quinnipiac University poll gives Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson a 46-percent advantage.
The expected Republican challenger, Governor Rick Scott, gets 42-percent.
With both well-known candidates fairing well with their own parties, it's believed independent voters could provide the swing vote.
