Scientists are hopeful a probe being tested at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, will eventually make its way seven times closer to the sun than any spacecraft in history.
After testing, the probe will be flown to Florida, where it has a launch window from July 31st to August 19th at the Kennedy Space Center.
It will orbit the sun two dozen times over about seven years.
Scientists hope it will answer questions including how solar wind comes about and how solar particles get to the speed of light.
