FL Sheriff Is Asking Gun Dealers To Voluntarily Restrict Sales

The sheriff of St. Lucie County is calling on local gun dealers to voluntarily restrict weapons sales.

Sheriff Ken Mascara said the one question he kept getting after the mass high-school shooting in Broward County was "how could an 18-year-old buy an assault weapon?"

In response, he's sending out certified letters today asking 84 federally-licensed dealers in St. Lucie County to stop selling semi-automatic weapons to anyone under the age of 21.

The police chiefs of Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie say they also support raising the age limit.
