Stoneman Douglas High Reopens Doors To Teachers, Staff Today

The Parkland high school where a former student shot and killed 17 people with an assault-style rifle on Valentine's Day, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, is reopening for teachers and other faculty on Friday.

Faculty and staff members were told they could return to the school Friday to collect belongings from classrooms that have been off-limits since the slayings more than a week earlier on Feb. 14th.

The school plans an orientation Sunday for teachers and students, along with the parents that wish to accompany them, and to restart classes Wednesday.

"Our new normal has yet to be defined, but we want to get back to it," said geography teacher Ernest Rospierski, whose classroom is on the third floor of the three-story building, according to a report by Local 10 News.

Officials have said that building will be torn down.
