Jobless Claims Are Reaching Near-Record Lows

Are you employed? The answer is likely yes! That's because the number of American's currently filing for unemployment is dropping to near record lows.

According to the Labor Department, jobless claims fell by roughly 7,000 last week to about 222,000 initial claim. That's about 8,000 fewer than market analysts expected.

For the 155th straight week, unemployment claims remain below the 300,000 threshold, suggesting a strong labor market.

This is the longest stretch since 1970.

The tightening labor market is also starting to push wage growth.
