Another South Florida student was arrested after authorities say she made a school shooting threat via social media.
A photo of the female student allegedly holding a rifle with the message, "I'll show you *** a school shooting," made its rounds Wednesday.
The student reportedly attends Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers. The district confirmed that the Lee County Sheriff's Office have confirmed an arrest.
The principal of Cypress Lake High School, Angela Roles, sent out the following message to parents on Wednesday in response to the threat:
Good evening. This is Angela Roles, Principal at Cypress Lake High School. We’ve received concerns tonight about an Instagram post. We thank studentsthat immediately reported the concern tonight which we gave to law enforcement. The post showed a juvenile female student holding what appears to be a rifle with the caption "I’ll show you —- (expletive) a school shooting."
We want you to know that LCSO confirms the student was arrested for this.We take these things seriously. We realize they cause extreme concern and real concern for safety. You can be assured that we will not tolerate this behavior.
Thank you again for those students that were acting quickly to report it- we wanted to share this information with you and reassure you that we are taking every measure possible to make sure our students are safe.
Parents please talk with your child about social media and monitor their accounts. Talk with them about the seriousness what they post and also the events going on in our country and state. We understand that this is a very emotional time for everyone. We deeply appreciate the many students that do the right things and cooperate with our staff every day. It’s just a good time to talk about WHY this is so important.
Again we are proud of our students for reporting this information to us so that we can act quickly on it. Please contact me or any of my staff if you have questions or need more information.
We need and appreciate your support during this time.
